When cleaning it, you only have to rub the guitar with a moist lint free
cloth. There are also some other specific products for instruments but you
must bear in mind they must not contain solvents. At the bottom on this page I have included some links for products I would recommend.
Please be aware when rubbing the guitar, do it slightly, because a matt finish, for example, could become a shiny finish, although this will inevitably happen as time goes by.
You must be careful when applying products for wood maintenance, because different varnishes are used in all the wood types and it could be damaged. You should not use alcohol to clean your guitar.
If in doubt leave it out! French polish and oil finishes need special care and you should seek advice before doing something you may later regret!
After cleaning the dust, just apply a small quantity of petroleum jelly with a clean cloth. You can also use a cloth dampened with alcohol to clean any accumulated dirt due to use.
The dirt built up between them and the fingerboard can be cleaned with a small toothpick (please do not use other things harder than Rosewood or Ebony not to damage the wood).
Simple use lubricating oil to grease them
It’s recommended you clean your strings after playing the guitar using a cloth dampened with alcohol under the strings and along them. Regular cleaning will extend their life and they will recover their original brightness. Excessive sweating can cause string wear, to protect against this we recommend the D’Addario strings, with Gore-tex covering which extends the strings life.
Extreme humidity or dryness is dangerous, as well as the quick change from one state to the other one.
It is recommended that you keep your instrument between 40 – 60 % relative humidity of the air.
When the humidity is less than 40 % the wood could crack and the action would be lower.
When the humidity is greater than 70 % the glue could soften, the guitar could lose sound and buzzing troubles could appear because the string action would be higher.
When the guitar has to travel by air, it is better if you loosen all the strings. A guitar case specifically designed for air travel are recommended alongside Humidipac’s for changes in Humidity
